标题: DEVELOPERS SUCCESSFULLY BUILDS CHROMIUM FOR WINDOWS FOR ARM64
When it comes to desktop web browsers, things are pretty similar to what you’d know from mobile: ask anyone and they’ll tell you that Google Chrome, or Chromium-based browsers, are quite probably the best option out there. So much, actually, that Microsoft’s own Edge browser is switching to a Chromium base. One of the first instinctive thoughts of someone booting a new computer is to download a third-party mobile browser, and this is usually Chrome. But what if you have one of those “always connected” Windows laptops that are ARM/ARM64-based instead of x86-based? Well, Chrome is out of the table since its desktop version is based on x86.[br][br]The good news is that work is getting done towards this. Back during the announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx, we found out that Google was working with Qualcomm in order to bring Chromium to always-on computers. Now, XDA Retired Forum Moderator/Recognized Developer snickler has managed to successfully compile a build of Chromium for Windows on ARM64 as a result of these efforts. According to the developer, this Chromium build is actually pretty fast and snappy and has even uploaded some footage of it on Twitter.[br][br][br] (, 下载次数: 0) [br][br]Jeremy Sinclair[br]@sinclairinator[br] BEHOLD! Successful Chromium build completed and is running on Windows ARM64 \o/! It was SUPER fast opening, also.[br][br]The bad news? It is still, for most intents and purposes, a work in progress. After all, it’s not publicly released yet. There is no word regarding its stability either, and it’s quite possible this won’t even see a public release. The developer has also clarified that this is not compatible with ARM devices like the Surface RT. According to a further subtweet, Chromium Edge for ARM64 also seems to be out of the table as well, at least for the moment.[br][br]As we said before, this is probably not going to be released publicly, and even if it was, it’s probably not going to be daily driver material. Users expecting to use Chrome on their always-connected PCs should wait until the official version is out–which, given the progress made here, should be pretty soon.[br][br]Source: XDA FEEDS
