The Infinix Note 4, which started selling in Kenya last month, is receiving a software update that fixes a couple of minor issues that users of the device have been encountering.
I received the update, build number X572-H5312AD-N-170719V111, on the review unit I have early this morning. According to the accompanying release notes, the update adds stability to the camera, added new themes and wallpapers and optimized the system for stability and performance. See the screen grabs below for more.

Importantly, the update brings the Infinix Note 4 up to speed with the latest Android security updates. The Android security patch level on the Note 4 before the update is as of May 5th, 2017. After the update it is bumped up to two months later, July 5th, 2017.
According to Google, the July security update fixes a “vulnerability in the media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process” which is Geek-speak for a loophole that could be exploited by parties with malicious intent if a device is rooted. If you are into the specifics then check out the Android Security Bulletin.
Before yesterday, the July security update was the most recent. However, Google has since released the August security update.
Such monthly security updates are meant to make users of the Android platform safe and it’s great to note that Infinix Note 4 users are now part of that crowd. Providing such timely updates is one of the key driving forces and things that HMD Global, the latest entrant to the Kenyan smartphone market, is counting on as it begins the uphill task of convincing the Kenyan buyer that its Nokia-branded devices are worth spending money on.

The update is 462 megabytes and as is always the case, one’s device needs to have sufficient battery charge (over 30%) and not have been tampered with by way of rooting.
The update is available over-the-air (OTA) which simply means that you shouldn’t worry that you haven’t received it yet if that is the case. It will be made available to your device in due course and you will be notified to that effect.
An interesting thing to note is that it looks like Infinix has finally streamlined its update process. I was able to download, install and reboot my device immediately after in just half an hour, a far cry from the snail pace that has characterized my experience installing updates on Infinix smartphones before.
