[br][br][br]HIGHLIGHTS[br][br]WhatsApp is working on adding a dark mode to its app.[br]WhatsApp’s dark mode will be available on its Android app.[br]WhatsApp is redesigning various app sections to make them compatible with dark mode.[br]WhatsApp is working on bringing a cool new Dark Mode to its Android app. And now, just a day after details of the Facebook-owned social messaging app's cool new feature first came into light, new details of the feature have emerged online.[br][br]WABetaInfo while sharing the details of the feature on Wednesday gave us a glimpse of how features like main settings, account settings, chat settings, notification settings and data and storage usage settings would look like in the dark mode on WhatsApp's Android app. Now, the blog, which tracks developments in WhatsApp, has given us a glimpse of what the status bar in the dark mode would look like.[br][br]The screenshots of status bar show that when enabled, the dark mode would show all of the space, including the bar where the time is displayed, in black. These changes are a part of WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.19.85. Earlier, the status bar, which was being displayed when the dark mode was first introduced with WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.19.82, had a green coloured bar on top where information like time, alarm and signal strength are displayed. But it seems that WhatsApp has updated the app, and hence the feature, since and made the dark mode a bit more appealing to the users who prefer the settings.[br][br][br]Apart from this, WhatsApp has also started redesigning the privacy settings and other sections of the social messaging app, such as the section to change number, to make them compatible with the dark mode. While there is no official date as to when the WhatsApp's Android app will get the dark mode, given the way things are progressing (and we are getting the updates), the feature should be rolled out soon.[br][br]Notably, dark mode is not the only feature that WhatsApp is planning to bring to its Android app. The company is also working on adding an Authentication feature to the app that would enable users to set an app specific lock - using the smartphone's fingerprint scanner - to add a layer of security to the app and prohibit other people accessing the phone (other than the owner) from reading the chats |
