Next-Gen Maruti Alto Launch Expected In June With BSVI Compliant Engine

[br] [br][br]Next generation Maruti Suzuki Alto is expected to be launched in June with BSVI compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine[br][br]Not too long ago, it was said that Maruti Suzuki would start introducing BSVI compliant engines into its lineup right from January 2020 onwards ahead of the deadline by April 2020. However, a new report indicates that the first BSVI model from the largest automaker in the country is just a couple of months away.[br][br]To comply with the regulations well ahead of the deadline, Maruti Suzuki will reportedly introduce BSVI versions of some models in every quarter. In Q1 FY2019-20 (between April and June 2019), Maruti Suzuki will launch a BSVI vehicle and the petrol variants will arrive before the diesel that could be added to the portfolio just in time for the rules to come into place.[br][br]This stands in accordance with our exclusive report that said the next generation Alto would be launched in India around late June or in early July 2019. Based on the Concept Future S displayed at 2018 Auto Expo, the upcoming model will likely be badged ‘Alto K10’ only as the Alto 800 has been discontinued.[br][br][br][br] [br][br]It will feature an upgraded 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine that is also used in Wagon R and Celerio. Expect it to offer both five- speed manual and five- speed AMT transmission options. The next generation Alto takes plenty of design inspiration from the Future S and it is believed to enter micro SUV where it will compete against Mahindra KUV100.[br]The segment will see increasing competition in the coming years as Tata’s H2X concept based Hornbill and a Hyundai micro SUV are eyeing a sweet spot as well. The exterior of the new Alto features an upright front fascia with a prominent grille while tall pillars will ensure sufficient room for the occupants.[br][br]The rear end adorns horizontal LED tail lamps and we can expect Maruti Suzuki to offer factory customisation accessories to spice up the proceedings. The interior spy shots have revealed that a round- shaped digital instrument cluster derived from the concept will be the centrepiece of attraction.[br][br]
