[br] [br][br][br]Yamaha Motor India recently made their views on the ongoing sales pattern public by clearing the fact that they will need more new premium products to keep up with their target of selling 1.20 million units in India by 2021.[br][br]The brand is not so happy with the sales number of its 100-125cc motorcycles as most fans of Yamaha prefer going for bigger displacement options like the R15, FZS, MT-15, R3, and the FZ25. The Yamaha manufacturing plant will reach the maximum production capacity by 2021 with around 1.50 million units for both the Indian as well as offshore markets.[br][br]Yamaha NMAX 155 ABS[br][br][br] [br][br]The scooter market is growing competitive with time and Yamaha is planning to introduce new and improved products to take on the market share that has been lost with no new product introduction in the premium segment. Yamaha N-MAX and Aerox scooters are powered by the R15 V3-sourced 155cc engine, leaving the brand with the option of bringing the premium scooters that can take on the fans of Suzuki Burgman, Piaggio Vespa and Aprilia scooters in India.[br][br]However, Yamaha will place their premium scooters at a higher price point as including best-in-class and high-tech features will definitely demand a bigger price tag. The Aerox and NMAX scooters are expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1 lakh in India.[br][br]Yamaha Aerox 155[br][br][br] [br][br]The breakdown of local sales of Yamaha Motor India confirms that they wish to add a big chunk of buyers to their side and take the monthly sales figure to a higher 1 lakh unit mark in the coming months. The most powerful way to drive the new generation of buyers is to launch new premium scooters while those looking for performance-centric bikes can wait for the MT-03 and the 2019 YZF-R3 sports bikes to enter the Indian market.[br][br]New Yamaha R3[br][br][br] [br][br]At present, the last-gen R3 is available in India with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 3.50 lakh while the 2019 model is expected to get a price jump of around INR 20,000. As far as the MT-03 is concerned, it will be priced around INR 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Both sports bikes are expected to launch in India later this year.[br][br]Yamaha MT-03[br][br][br] [br][br]The MT-15 has once again proved that people love Yamaha streetfighters and premium pricing may not be an issue for many around the country. Yamaha may not take their 100cc and 125cc motorcycles further in 2020 after the application of BS6 rule, as the motorcycles are already not sitting at a profitable point for the brand. This also means that Yamaha could then place itself as a premium brand with just scooters available under INR 1 lakh.[br][br][br]Source: Maxabout News
