Auto manufacturers have started making preparations for the same and are testing BS6 engines on their model lineup. However, many manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Tata among others have decided to discontinue diesel engines on smaller cars in wake of high development costs which will lead to higher asking price. If you planning to buy a compact diesel car, this is the right time to do it. If you want to push your purchase to a later date, here are all the cars which will no longer have a diesel engine available on them in the coming time.Mahindra KUV100[br][br]First on the list is the Mahindra KUV100 NXT, which is one of the most affordable diesel hatchbacks in the country. The hatchback, or micro SUV as it has been designed as, gets powered by a 1.2-litre diesel engine that puts out 77 Bhp of power along with 190 Nm of torque. The Mahindra KUV100 NXT does not get an automatic transmission in any of the variants. This diesel engine will be discontinued by next year and the car will only be available with a petrol engine.[br][br]Tata Tiago[br][br] [br][br]The Tiago has been the best selling Tata car for quite some time now. The stylish hatchback packs a punch and has been priced cleverly which makes buyers look towards it. It comes with both petrol and diesel engine options to choose from. The diesel engine on the Tiago is a 1.1-litre unit that churns out 74 Bhp of power along with 140 Nm of torque. This engine comes with only a manual transmission option on the Tiago and will be discontinued because of the high cost of upgrading it for being BS6 compliant.[br][br]Maruti Suzuki Swift[br][br] [br][br]The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the best selling and most popular hatchbacks in India ever since its launch in 2005. The mid-segment hatchback gets powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel unit is the same Fiat sourced 1.3-litre DDiS engine as on other Maruti cars. Here, this engine produces 74 Bhp of power along with 190 Bhp of power and comes with both manual and automatic engine options.[br][br]Toyota Etios Liva[br][br] [br][br]The Toyota Etios Liva is the most affordable offering from the Japanese manufacturer in India. It is available in both diesel and petrol engine options but the diesel unit will no longer be in production once the BS6 regulations kick in. The diesel engine on the Etios Liva is a 1.4-litre unit that churns out 67 Bhp of power along with 170 Nm of torque. The engine is only available with a manual transmission as Toyota does not offer an aotomatic box on any variant of the Liva.[br][br]Volkswagen Polo[br][br] [br][br]The Volkswagen is quite a sporty little hatchback that comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel engine found on this hatchback is a 1.5-litre unit that pumps out a good 89 Bhp of power along with 230 Nm of torque. Volkswagen also offers a higher tuned version of this engine in the GT TDI variants. In this state, the engine churns out an impressive 108 Bhp of power along with 250 Nm of torque. The Polo diesel variants only come with a manual transmission as the automatic option is only limited to the petrol variants.[br][br]Maruti Suzuki Baleno[br][br] [br][br]The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has emerged as one of the best selling hatchbacks in the Indian market despite being a premium hatchback, translating into a higher asking price than other regular hatchbacks. The diesel-powered Baleno uses the same 1.3-litre DDiS motor that is common across the company's model lineup and will be discontinued before BS6 regulations come in. On the Baleno, this engine churns out 74 Bhp of power along with 190 Nm of torque. It only comes with a manual gearbox as the CVT transmission is available on petrol powered variants.[br][br]Tata Tigor[br][br] [br][br]Next in line is the Tata Tigor, which is likely the most affordable sub-4 meter sedan in the country. The Tigor gets both petrol and diesel engine options to choose from. The powertrains on the sedan are the same as on the Tiago hatchback and therefore the diesel unit will be axed from the Tigor too. The diesel engine in question is a 1.1-litre unit that churns out 74 Bhp of power along with 140 Nm of torque. This engine comes with only a manual transmission option.[br][br]Maruti Suzuki Dzire[br][br] [br][br]The Maruti Suzuki Dzire surprised everyone when it came out as the top selling car of 2019. A major chunk of its sales consisted of the diesel-powered models but that engine will be taken down in the coming time. As on the Swift, Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, Maruti has equipped the Dzire with the same 1.3 litres DDiS engine. The engine produces 74 Bhp of power along with 190 Nm of torque here and is available with both manual and automatic transmission units.[br][br]Volkswagen Ameo[br][br] [br][br]Like the diesel Polo hatchback, Volkswagen will axe the Ameo diesel sub-4 meter sedan from the market too. The diesel engine that powers the Ameo is the same 1.5-litre unit that also powers the Polo hatchback. Here, this engine churns out 109 Bhp of power along with 250 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful vehicles in its segment. The engine is available with both manual and automatic transmission options.[br][br]Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza[br][br] [br][br]The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the best selling sub-4 meter SUV in India, despite the fact that it's only available with a diesel engine. The 1.3-litre DDiS unit on the Vitara Brezza churns out 89 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm of torque. This engine will be discontinued before the BS6 rules kick in as the cost to upgrade this engine will be quite high and that will take up the price of the SUV by quite a margin.
