WhatsApp is soon going to relocate the "Archived chats" option to the main menu and bring a new "Ignore archived chats" feature to the Android app.[br][br][br]
[br][br]According to Wabetainfo, the “Archived chats moved” feature, once officially released, will display a dedicated option for Archived chats in the main menu. This won’t bring any new change to the UI, it will only simplify for those who wish to see their archived or hidden chats. Currently, users have to scroll to the bottom in the chat feed but now they will be able to easily tap the “Archived chats” option from the main menu to take a look at the archived chats.[br][br]Another feature that WhatsApp is testing in the beta version for Android is “ignore Archived chats”. This feature when enabled will no longer unarchive a chat when a new message arrives. The feature was originally called the “Vacation mode” but now it appears to be named “ignore archived chats”.[br][br][br]
[br][br]Earlier, WhatsApp used to unarchive a chat when a message was received from the person whose chat was archived but now the new feature will prevent the app to unarchive a chat. To enable the same, users can head to Settings, tap on Notifications and enable the ignore archived chats option. The feature is reportedly under development and will be made available only when few improvements have been made. Last time when “Vacation mode” was spotted it had the capability to only unarchive the muted chats however the new ignore archived chats feature will prevent both muted and unmuted chats from being unarchived. |
