[br]The first fruits of Volkswagen Group's 'India 2.0' product plan for Skoda will be revealed in 2021; will include a notchback and an SUV.[br]The India-specific MQB A0-IN platform will spawn many more cars in the future, possibly a premium sub-4m compact SUV or crossover.[br]Plans could change depending on the results from ongoing market and customer surveys.[br]Volkswagen Group as a whole aims to have a 5 per cent market share by 2025.[br]Skoda's plans under the Volkswagen Group's India 2.0 project is in full swing. Apart from the launch of two new products in two years time, the brand is improving its dealer network (from the current 64 to 238 by 2021), trying to attract customers through attractive service and warranty programs and improving after-sales service and used car experience as well. The first car from Skoda's new onslaught will be a notchback (just like the Octavia). The second will be an SUV, most probably called the Kamiq. "And then after that, we're looking at where we go first. There's lots of discussion going. Should we go to the sub-4 car? Should we go in bigger? So there are lots of strategic discussions going on after that," said Zac Hollis, head of sales, service & marketing at Škoda India. Skoda is still deliberating its product lineup after 2022, which could possibly include an SUV.[br][br]
[br][br]The modular MQB A0-IN cannot be stretched beyond the Kamiq, which will be roughly competing against the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the likes. Instead, Skoda could use the platform to make sub-4-m cars. If Skoda finds that SUVs will be popular in the future too, there's a great possibility it will take on the Mahindra XUX300, Hyundai Venue and the Ford EcoSport.[br][br] [br]
[br][br]Will it not compete against the current segment leader, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza? Being a premium brand, Skoda does not want to compete as a volumes player and damage its brand image. It would rather be known for making high quality, technologically advanced vehicles - something that would seem inspired by more expensive offerings in the lineup like the Octavia or the Superb.[br][br]The sub-4-m SUV from Skoda will follow the same naming convention as the company's latest SUVs, with the name starting with a 'K' and ending with a 'Q'. What do you think it will be called? Should Skoda concentrate on sedans instead?
