[h2]Running Windows 10 From a USB Drive[/h2][p]First, sign into your current Windows 10 computer to create a Windows 10 ISO file that will be used to install Windows 10 onto the USB drive.

[p]To do this, browse to the[a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10"]Download Windows 10 website[/a]. This site offers the latest edition of Windows 10, which at this point is the[a href="https://in.pcmag.com/gallery/126021/windows-10-october-2018-update-the-best-new-features"]Windows 10 October 2018 Update[/a], or Windows 10 version 1809. Click the Download tool now button. Then double-click the downloaded MediaCreationTool.exe file to install the tool.

[h2]Running WinToUSB (With Caveats)[/h2][p]Next, it's time to enlist the aid of[a href="https://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/"]WinToUSB[/a]. This program is effective and user friendly, but it suffers from one major drawback.

[p]The[strong]free version does not support the current flavor of Windows 10[/strong]—specifically the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, or Windows 10 version 1809. And Microsoft no longer offers older ISO files of Windows 10 at its download site. If you want to make a USB copy of Windows 10 version 1809 using WinToUSB, you'll have to shell out $29.95 for the Professional version.

[p]However,[strong]there is a trick[/strong]that will let you download an ISO file of the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, or Windows 10 version 1803, which you can use with the free version of WinToUSB. Here's how it works.

On the Downloads page, choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Windows 10 April 2018 Update and then click Save to download the file. After the file has been downloaded, change the User agent string in Edge from Apple Safari (iPad) back to Microsoft Edge (Default). Close the right pane by clicking the X.
