In these sensitive times, a private WhatsApp message containing dodgy sentiments can ruin your life.[br][br][br] [br][br][br]Now the messaging app is reportedly going to make it harder to take a screenshot – but only in one very specific situation. At the moment, anyone who uses WhatsApp can take an image of a missive and then use it to shame, embarrass or totally destroy someone. But a future update could make this more difficult, as long as the person receiving a message agrees to implement the security mechanism.[br][br][br]The app detectives at WABetaInfo have discovered that the Facebook-owned company is planning to implement a new system which requires you to scan a fingerprint before taking a screenshot.[br][br][br]This will make it harder to immediately record people’s messages, which might make you think twice before ruining someone’s life. Yet it doesn’t really offer the sender any protection. Yes, you may be able to ‘unsend’ the message in the short space of time it takes someone to scan a fingerprint, but you’ll need to be very quick.
