[br][br]If you haven’t heard, Twitter has a huge blunder on its hands. The company noticed that it was accidentally storing passwords in clear text. Twitter has said that the password data never left its systems or was misused by anyone.[br][br]"We recently identified a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log," Twitter's CTO Parag Agrawal wrote.[br][br]Since then, it has fixed the issue and is no longer storing the passwords in clear text. Twitter is not implementing a forced password reset, but has come out clean so that users can make an informed decision about their accounts.[br][br]Our suggestion is to take action if you don’t want your Twitter account to be compromised. For that we’ve made a quick guide so you can protect your account.[br][br][strong]Change the password[/strong][br][br]
[br][br]The simplest thing to do is just change your password. If you are on the web, just over to the Twitter website, login and click your profile image on the top right corner. Go to Settings and privacy and on the next page select Password. Just feed in your existing password and then a new one which is stronger and not easy to guess.[br][br]If you are using the mobile app, tap on your profile photo and choose Settings and privacy. Next tap on Account and then Change your password.[br][br][strong]Enable [/strong][strong]two-factor[/strong][strong] authentication[/strong][br][br]
[br][br]Changing your password isn’t the most secure way to protect your account. As an added layer of protection, you can use Twitter’s login verification feature which is basically two-factor authentication.[br][br]This security feature sends a code to your mobile phone number, that will be used to login, if and when a new device successfully signs into your account with the right password. It also allows you to generates a custom code through a third-party app made for the same purpose.[br][br]To enable Twitter’s login verification feature, just head over to your Twitter account , click your profile icon and then click Settings and Privacy. Under Account you will find ‘Setup login verification.’ Go through the instructions given and click on the start button. It will ask for your password, feed that and then click on Verify.[br][br]You will then receive a code to add your phone number. Just enter the verification code that you received on your phone and hit Submit. The verification feature is now enabled and you can check by logging in once again. The process is similar for the mobile app, with just one extra step where you need to enter Security under Settings and Privacy.[br][br]Alternatively you can use a third-party authentication app. For that when you enter the Security tab, there should be an option that says ‘Review your login verification methods’ next to Login Verification.[br][br]Click on it, enter your password and click Confirm. Go to Mobile security settings and click Set up next to it. Once you click start, you will be given a QR code that you can scan with the third party code-generator app like Authy or Google Authenticator.[br][br]Once you scan it, the app should generate a six-digit code. Enter the code in the Security code text field and click Done. Our recommendation is to use 1Password or Enpass apps for authentication[br][br]Keep Using and Enjoying Infinix.[br][br]Source: newsbytes |
