How to experience Google Lens on any Android device

What is Google Lens?[br][strong]Google Lens[/strong] is an [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_recognition"]image recognition[/a] [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_app"]mobile app[/a] developed by [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google"]Google[/a]. First announced during [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_I/O"]Google I/O[/a] 2017, it is designed to bring up relevant information using visual analysis.[br][br] [br][br]When directing the phone's camera at an object, Google Lens will attempt to identify the object or read labels and text and show relevant search results and information. For example, when pointing the device's camera at a [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi"]Wi-Fi[/a] label containing the network name and password, it will automatically connect to the [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi"]Wi-Fi[/a] source that has been scanned. Lens is also integrated with the [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Photos"]Google Photos[/a] and [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Assistant"]Google Assistant[/a] apps. The service is similar to [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Goggles"]Google Goggles[/a], a previous app that functioned similarly but with lesser capability. Lens uses more advanced [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_learning"]deep learning[/a] routines, similar to other apps like [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bixby_Vision"]Bixby[/a][a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bixby_Vision"] Vision[/a] (for Samsung devices released 2016 and after) and Image Analysis Toolset(available on [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Play"]Google Play[/a]); artificial neural networks are used to detect and identify objects, landmarks and to improve [a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_character_recognition"]optical character recognition[/a] (OCR) accuracy.[br][br]This way, camera is used to snap an object and the Google Lens feature uses artificial intelligence to bring up information relating to the images shot with the camera.[br][br]Google officially launched Google Lens on October 4, 2017 with app previews pre-installed into the Google Pixel In November 2017, the feature began rolling out into the Google Assistant for Pixel and Pixel 2 phones.A preview of Lens has also been implemented into the Google Photos app for Pixel phones. On March 5, 2018 Google officially released Google Lens to Google Photos on non-Pixel phones.Support for Lens in the iOS version of Google Photos was made on March 15, 2018. Beginning in May 2018, Google Lens was made available within Google Assistant on OnePlus devices as well as being integrated into camera apps of various Android phones.  A standalone Google Lens app was made available on Google Play in June 2018. Device support is limited, although it is not clear which devices are not supported or why. It requires Android Marshmallow (6.0) or newer.[br]So for now, if your device doesn't support the Google Lens app, you can have a feel of its feature through Google photos. All you have to do is make sure you're on the latest version of Google photos. [br][br] [br][br]Open the Google photos app, open any image you want Google Lens to scan and click on the Google Lens icon depicted in the image below. [br][br] [br][br]After clicking on the Google Lens icon, the feature will scan the picture in view and bring out relevant info as depicted in the image below [br][br]Scanning the image:[br] [br][br]Result scanned:[br] [br][br]Here, the Google Lens was able to bring out some useful information relating to the image of the Infinix Hot 6 it scanned. [br]You can repeat same process for any image you need Google Lens to bring information about. [br]Currently, only the Infinix Note 5 has the full fledged Google Lens feature because it uses artificial intelligence coupled with Google’s Androidone platform.
