[br][br]The creators of TikTok, ByteDance — which also happens to be the world's most valuable startup — is in the news again. Thankfully though, it's nothing negative for a change. The company finds itself in the news because of a new app that it has announced. [br][br]After runaway success with TikTok, ByteDance has now launched Feiliao or Flipchat in English. The app is the company's take on a new age messaging platform which it sees as a hybrid between instant messengers and interest-based forums. The app encourages users to create interest-based chat groups based on common hobbies, likes and preferences.[br][br]The app has been announced in China and is currently available on Android and iOS. The app which appears to be ByteDance's direct competitor against WeChat also comes within months of ByteDance unveiling its video-focused chatting app Duoshan.[br][br]Despite the troubles it has faced across the globe over its app TikTok, ByteDance remains one of the biggest app makers in the world. The company has faced bans on the app in multiple countries and even faced legal troubles in India last month. [br][br]Yet, the company has been launching apps after app, all targeted at different -- and at times even niche -- audiences in the hope of expanding its presence in the market. [br][br]The proof of this is a recent report published by research firm Questmobile which claims ByteDance accounted for 11.3 percent of Chinese users’ total time spent on ‘giant apps’ — those that surpassed 100 million MAUs — in March, compared to 8.2 percent a year earlier.[br][br]Source : timesnownews.com |
